		<description>David, you bring up an interesting point. I teach 6th-8th grade English in Boston Public Schools. It already feels weird that 95% of my students own smartphones, and yet they play no role in our school day. Of course, that&#039;s good, because right now we don&#039;t have the technology or the training to ensure that using phones in school would actually benefit our educational goals. If tomorrow I was guaranteed a smartphone for every student and the technology to use those phones for classroom learning, I would not dare try because I have no idea how to manage a classroom using digital technology. And I&#039;m one of the new, young teachers. I&#039;m still trying to get my colleagues to check their email more than once a week. 

I am pretty handy with a computer and digital technology, but not so much when it comes to using technology for classroom teaching. I look forward to the day when we acknowledge that smart phones have the potential to help educate kids, but I will need serious training, too.</description>
